Our Spiritual Health & Grief
Spirituality can play a significant role in the grieving process. For me, it took awhile to sense this after my daughter, Dana, died. Everything in my world was dulled except for the harsh unrelenting power of grief.
Gradually, and with much grief work, more awareness of my life's possibilities continue to come into focus. My vulnerability and rawness left me open and eager to let in whatever spiritual healing I could sense and nurture. I now notice more color, reverance for nature's healing beauty, creative callings, and a desire to connect to restoring practices and other people. Sometimes, I now find these desires and impressions to be greater than before Dana's death as I experience little shimmers, sometimes bigger rays, of light.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.
-Leonard Cohen (Canadian Poet and Singer)
What light have you or will you let in?
